There are three major factors that cause acne: the overproduction of oil by enlarged oil glands in the skin, blockage of the hair follicles that release the oil, and a growth of bacteria called P. acnes within the hair follicles. As oil and bacteria accumulate, the skin becomes inflamed and swells outward forming whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples.
How Does This Treatment Work?
Laser specifically targets two of these factors: excessive oil production by enlarged oil glands to damage the oil glands and the overgrowth of P. acnes bacteria.
Is It Painful?
Many patients say each laser pulse feels like a snap of a rubber band against
the skin. Even though treatments over active acne may be more uncomfortable,
you will see some great improvements on your skin.
Duration of Laser Acne treatment
Each treatment is simple and takes less than 30 minutes. Additional 3-5
laser treatments spread in months might be required depending on the condition
of the acne, and whether it is severe or mild. Each of these treatments
reduces the overproduction of oil and helps diminish and in some cases completely
remove acne.
